Run Away With Me Tonight — Nora (Vol. 6)
Run Away With Me Tonight — Nora · Vol. 6
Some songs are letters. This one is a set of keys left in the ignition.
The story
Friday night, and the plan is "no plan." One motorcycle, the city ring road, her arms around a borrowed jacket. They pass the exit they both know by heart — and she taps his shoulder: don't turn, just start. The fuel needle leans on empty like a dare. Toll-bar light stripes climb her sleeve, tunnel strobes flicker her visor green — and at the top of the hill, the sea appears all at once, like the whole coast was waiting for them to choose it.
The craft
Piano-house at 122 bpm — but the piano carries the verses like a heartbeat before the drop opens the sky. The hook earns its keep:
"We missed the exit and kept the night"
And the sheet's best line, per the judge:
"At the pump, bare feet on cold tarmac"
Moths circling the canopy light. Helmet hair like a halo. Dawn ice cream on the hood — one spoon, two hands, the wrong coast that turns out to be the right one. This is Nora's bright resilience at speed: they're not running from anything. They're running toward proof — and finding it in the run.
For the playlist
Window-down, open-road, full-tank music. Send it to the person you'd call at 11pm with three words: "get dressed, I'm outside."
Vol. 6 of Nora's songbook — five before it: Haven't Met Me Yet · Did You Get Home · Every Mile Says Soon · May Your Roads Be Kind · One More Stop With You.

Lyrics
[Verse]
Friday folds the ring road into chrome
Your helmet hair makes a halo of your own
We pass the exit we both know by heart
You tap my shoulder: don’t turn, just start
[Pre-Chorus]
At the pump, bare feet on cold tarmac
Moths circle the canopy, white and black
The needle leans on empty like a dare
Your arms pull tight; I take the coastal air
[Chorus]
Toll-bar light stripes climb your jacket sleeve
Tunnel strobes make your visor flicker green
We missed the exit and kept the night
Run away with me tonight
[Verse]
At the hillcrest, all at once, the sea
Unfolds so wide it gives us room to breathe
No map could tell us what the miles might prove
The road keeps asking; we keep choosing to move
[Pre-Chorus]
The engine cools beside the store
Helmet hair, your laugh, the hood beneath us
One spoon, two hands, a paper cup of cream
The day finds us on the wrong coast, right as a dream
[Chorus]
Toll-bar light stripes climb your jacket sleeve
Tunnel strobes make your visor flicker green
We missed the exit and kept the night
Run away with me tonight
[Instrumental Bridge]
[Final Chorus]
The sea is gold beyond the waking road
Your hand stays warm against my borrowed coat
We missed the exit and kept the night
Run away with me tonight
[Outro]
Ice cream softens in the morning sun
We went for proof, and found it in the run
